1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how Atchison Account Management, LLC, doing business as AAM Collections ("we", "our", or "us"), collects, uses, and protects information about consumers, clients, and visitors who interact with us through our consumer portal at portal.aamcollections.com, our marketing website at aamcollections.com, and our text-message and email programs.
AAM Collections is a third-party debt collector based in Atchison, Kansas. We collect debts on behalf of medical providers, municipalities, and other commercial clients.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information, depending on how you interact with us:
Information you provide
- Identity & contact information: name, mailing address, phone number, email address, account or reference number.
- Payment information: debit/credit card or ACH banking information you submit through our payment processor when paying on an account. Card and bank-account numbers are transmitted directly to our PCI-compliant processor and are not retained on our servers.
- SMS opt-in details: the full name, mobile number, optional account reference, and the date, time, IP address, and device information at the moment you submit the opt-in form.
- Correspondence: messages you send us by email, SMS, web form, mail, or phone (including, where lawful, recorded call audio).
Information we receive from clients
- Account placements from our clients, which may include your name, address, phone number, email, account balance, the underlying transaction date and amount, and information needed to verify your identity and the validity of the debt.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage information: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and time stamps. We use server logs and basic analytics to operate and secure the site.

3. How we use your information
We use information about you to:
- Service and collect on accounts our clients have placed with us, in accordance with the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), state debt-collection laws, and other applicable regulations.
- Verify your identity, validate the debt, respond to disputes, and provide the verification and validation notices required by law.
- Process payments you authorize and send you receipts and confirmations.
- Send you account-related emails and (if you opt in) text messages, including notices that documents are ready for electronic signature, payment reminders, balance updates, and other account-servicing communications.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve our website and consumer portal.
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to subpoenas and lawful government requests, and defend against legal claims.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, security incidents, and abuse of our services.

SMS Privacy Policy
Your phone number will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.
All the stated categories in this privacy policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Messaging Terms and Conditions
Messaging Terms and Conditions. By opting in, you consent to receive SMS messages from Atchison Account Management, LLC, doing business as AAM Collections. Depending on your selection, you may receive messages related to account notifications and customer care — including collection notices, payment reminders, balance updates, payment confirmations, requests to review and electronically sign documents relating to your account, and responses to questions you send us about your account. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
Message Frequency. Message frequency may vary.
Message and Data Rates. Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier plan.
Opting Out. You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message you receive from us. After you send “STOP,” you will receive a confirmation message, and no further SMS messages will be sent to your number.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase, payment, or service. These Messaging Terms and Conditions are also published on their own page at aamcollections.com/sms.
If you opt in to text messages, we collect and process the following SMS-specific information:
- The mobile number you provided and the consent record (date, time, IP address, browser, page URL, and the consent language you accepted).
- The content and delivery status of messages we send to or receive from your mobile number, retained for compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the FDCPA, and carrier auditing requirements.
- Your opt-out status. If you reply STOP to any of our messages (or any other recognized opt-out keyword), our messaging platform automatically suppresses further messages to that number and we record the timestamp of your opt-out.
We share this information only with the carriers, aggregators, and messaging-platform providers (including Dialpad, Inc.) strictly necessary to deliver and audit the messages you have asked us to send, and only as required for that delivery and for our legal and recordkeeping obligations. Those providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing.
Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Message frequency varies based on activity on your account. You can withdraw your SMS consent at any time by replying STOP to any text message from us, or by emailing info@aamcollections.com.
5. When we share information
We share information only as needed to operate our business, comply with the law, and serve you:
- Our clients (the original creditors): we report account status, payments, and dispute information back to the client who placed the account with us.
- Service providers: payment processors, messaging platforms (e.g., Dialpad), email senders, hosting and infrastructure providers, and document-signing platforms, strictly to perform services on our behalf and under written confidentiality obligations.
- Credit reporting agencies: when an account meets our and our client's reporting criteria, we may report account status to one or more nationwide consumer reporting agencies in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Legal & regulatory: when required by applicable law, regulation, court order, or governmental request, or to defend our legal rights.
- Successors: in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, under continuing privacy protections.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
6. Data retention
We retain account, communication, payment, and consent records for as long as necessary to service the underlying account, to comply with the recordkeeping requirements of the FDCPA, the TCPA, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, state debt-collection statutes, and our auditors and clients, and to defend against potential legal claims. After the applicable retention period expires, records are deleted or de-identified in accordance with our records-retention schedule.
7. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted databases at rest, access controls based on least privilege, multi-factor authentication for staff accounts, and audit logging. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; however, we work continuously to maintain the security of your information.
8. Your rights & choices
You can:
- Request access to or a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of information we are not legally required to retain.
- Opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP.
- Opt out of marketing-style emails by using the unsubscribe link in any email (note: account-servicing notices are transactional and may continue even after unsubscribing from optional updates).

9. Cookies & analytics
Our website uses session cookies to keep you signed in to the consumer or staff portal, and persistent cookies to remember preferences (such as whether the topbar is collapsed). We may also use a small amount of first-party analytics to understand how the site is used and to detect abuse.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, ad networks, or cross-site tracking on our consumer portal or payment pages. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect your ability to log in or save preferences.
10. Minors
Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@aamcollections.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.
11. California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you additional rights with respect to your personal information, including the right to know what categories of information we collect and disclose, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share personal information of California residents within the meaning of the CCPA/CPRA.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the consumer portal home page for at least 30 days. Your continued use of our website and services after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
